National Portrait Gallery Acquires McCarthy Portrait

As reported on their blog, facetoface, the National Portrait Gallery has acquired a portrait of Cormac McCarthy by artist Andrew Tift.

Marty Priola, the Society's Webmaster and Assistant Secretary, spoke with the National Portrait Gallery's Warren Perry and offered his thoughts on McCarthy's place in the canon. Read the announcement and interview.

The painting, from 2004, is acrylic on canvas; it is currently on view in the New Acquisitions Gallery of the National Portrait Gallery.

Conference Information Posted

The Cormac McCarthy Society and The CAPITAL Centre of the Royal Shakespeare Company are delighted to announce the Fourth International Conference on Cormac McCarthy. In addition to papers and panels on all aspects of McCarthy's work in fiction, drama and film, the conference will also feature guest speakers and—naturally—special dramatic presentations, which may include an RSC performance in nearby Stratford on Avon, as well as at the Capital Center itself.
